Due to the difference in temperature between the medium inside the pipeline and the environment, as well as the temperature changes caused by the evaporation of leaked materials, optical fibers can be used to sense in a timely manner. Therefore, the optical fibers arranged along the pipeline can also replace the inspection work of personnel on the pipeline, and notify the specific location of the leak to the personnel in a timely manner.

By laying distributed temperature sensing optical cables along pipelines, it is possible to detect low temperature points during high-pressure gas leaks or high temperature points during heated liquid leaks, which can quickly locate and guide emergency repairs.
