The DAS system uses a core fiber of the communication cable laid along the pipeline as a sensor, turning the fiber into a continuous microphone that distributes the sound and vibration around the pipeline throughout the fiber length. The abnormal sound caused by pipeline leakage and the destructive behavior along the pipeline (such as manual excavation, mechanical excavation, etc.) are timely identified, quickly located and alerted.
