DEAN Technology Fiber Optic Temperature Sensing Instrument Receives Class 1 Laser Certification
Publication Date:September 5, 2014

On September 1, 2014, DEAN Technology received Class 1 laser certification for its fiber optic temperature sensing instrument.

The certification represents an important historical milestone in the development of DEAN Technology's fiber optic temperature sensing products.

Class 1 Laser Classification for Fiber Optic Sensing Equipment

Laser safety classification is an important consideration for optical sensing and measurement equipment incorporating laser sources.

The Class 1 designation identifies the laser classification associated with the fiber optic temperature sensing instrument covered by the certification.

For industrial users, system integrators, and engineering organizations evaluating optical sensing equipment, product safety documentation can form an important part of technical evaluation alongside system performance, reliability, environmental requirements, and application suitability.

Development of Fiber Optic Temperature Sensing Technology

Fiber optic temperature sensing uses optical fibers and optical measurement technologies to monitor temperature conditions in industrial and infrastructure environments.

DEAN Technology has continued to develop this technology since the certification milestone documented in 2014.

Today, the company's product portfolio includes a Distributed Optical Fiber Temperature Sensing System , designed for distributed temperature monitoring applications.

Distributed temperature sensing is currently used across applications such as power infrastructure, industrial facilities, transportation, pipelines, petrochemical environments, and other assets requiring continuous temperature monitoring.

A Historical Product Safety Milestone

The September 2014 Class 1 laser certification provides documented historical evidence of DEAN Technology's development of fiber optic temperature sensing equipment.

Together with subsequent product testing, research projects, engineering applications, and field deployments, this milestone forms part of the company's long-term development in fiber optic sensing and monitoring technologies.
