District Heating Pipeline Rupture Causes Hot Water Leak in Changchun

At approximately 6:00 p.m. on October 23, 2019, a district heating pipeline ruptured near the intersection of Yatai Street and Dajing Road in Changchun, Jilin Province, causing a significant hot water leak.

The incident occurred on the auxiliary road on the east side of Yatai Street, near the Jilin Provincial Forestry and Grassland Administration.

Pipeline Rupture Damages Road Surface

According to the original incident report, hot water escaping from the ruptured heating pipeline damaged the asphalt road surface and caused paving bricks along the sidewalk to lift.

Hot water spread across the surrounding roadway, requiring repair crews to locate the source of the leak and carry out emergency work.

Temporary Road Closure and Traffic Disruption

Temporary traffic restrictions were introduced along part of Yatai Street while repairs were underway.

Because the affected section carries significant traffic, the emergency construction work resulted in congestion in the south-to-north direction of Yatai Street.

Maintenance personnel subsequently located the leak and replaced the damaged section of pipeline.
